Deputy Speaker and Las Piñas City Rep. Camille Villar on Wednesday, June 9 underscored the importance of launching the anti-COVID-19 vaccination for the country’s essential workers.
Villar said Las Pinas City has started jabs for essential workers or individuals tagged under the A4 category, saying that this is part of efforts to make vaccines against the 2019 coronavirus disease easily accessible.
It will be recalled that it was Villar who initiated the “May Bahay sa Bakuna” promotion that will give Las Pinas residents the chance to win a house-and-lot, motorcycles and other valuables.
The promotion is open to city residents who have been vaccinated.
Villar said the program seeks to “entice residents to have themselves vaccinated against COVID-19.” In lauding the opening of the COVID-19 vaccination program to essential workers, Villar expressed the confidence that this will soon help the country recover from the economic devastation triggered by the pandemic. “We believe that with the inoculation of essential workers, we are on the road to slowly rebuild our economy from the impacts of COVID-19,” said the city’s lone district representative. She said the local government is simultaneously vaccinating eligible individuals from the A1-A4 priority sectors in various vaccination sites. Villar reiterated that health protocols must still be observed such as proper wearing of face mask and face shield and maintaining social distancing.
“Broadening access to vaccines will help us meet our goals of achieving herd immunity,” she said.
A total of 101,059 vaccines have been administered in the city, with 70,770 individuals who have received the first dose while 30,289 are fully vaccinated, official figures show.
“We want to reinforce the importance of getting vaccinated for people, their families, and the community. It will not only protect people but help our economy slowly recover,” she earlier said.
Villar said Las Piñas residents may follow official social media pages of the local government and its officials for updates.
