House Deputy Speaker and Las Piñas Rep. Camille Villar has introduced a measure seeking to establish childcare facilities to boost work-life balance for public school teachers.
Villar’s House Bill 9582 proposed the establishment of nursery and childcare facilities within the premises or near learning institutions where they work.
“By establishing nursery and childcare facilities within the premises or within reasonable vicinity from the public schools, teachers will feel assured that their children receive the proper care while they are performing their functions,” Villar said.
She said the facilities shall be designed based on the standards set by the Departments of Education (DepEd), the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), and the local government unit where the facilities are located.
“This measure seeks to recognize the valuable role teachers play in molding future generations and to support their work-life balance effectively,” Villar added.
She said that an annual evaluation shall be conducted by the DepEd and the DSWD to assess the effectiveness, affordability, and accessibility of the childcare facilities, monitor service delivery, and identify areas for improvement.
