MANILA, Philippines – Senatorial candidate Camille Villar reaffirmed her commitment to public service and economic development as she addressed supporters during the administration’s campaign sortie in Metro Manila on Tuesday.
Confronting criticisms about political dynasties head-on, Villar emphasized that she is running on the strength of her 15-year track record in public service and business leadership.
“I bring with me 15 years of solid experience in business, livelihood programs, and public service. I know I can do more,” she said at the proclamation rally of the Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas at the Cuneta Astrodome.
Villar, daughter of former Senate President Manny Villar and Senator Cynthia Villar, acknowledged that her family’s political background has influenced her commitment to serving the Filipino people. However, she stressed that her candidacy is rooted in her own achievements and dedication to addressing the country’s pressing issues.
As a 40-year-old legislator, Villar believes she is in a strong position to represent the concerns of Millennials, many of whom face economic challenges, job insecurity, and the fast-changing digital landscape.
“Over the years, we’ve gone through so many changes and challenges. I understand the struggles that young Filipinos are facing today,” she said.
Villar, a mother of two, also vowed to champion policies that support mothers and children, recognizing the uncertainties families face in today’s economic climate.
“As a mother and a millennial who is raising a young family, I know what it feels like to navigate uncertainty,” she shared.
Among her key priorities is pushing for digitalization and innovation, especially in response to the rapid growth of Artificial Intelligence worldwide.
“Innovation and uncertainty go hand in hand. We need fresh perspectives, modern solutions, and decisive action to ensure Filipinos are not left behind in this era of change,” Villar added.
She also underscored her commitment to advocating for legislation focused on housing, healthcare, and education—sectors she believes are critical to improving the quality of life for Filipinos.
In a separate media interview, Villar stressed the importance of job creation, particularly through infrastructure development and tourism, which she sees as key drivers of economic growth.
“Any sector that generates jobs, we will support. While we have many existing laws, times are changing, and we need to incorporate innovation to address emerging challenges. At the same time, we must tackle persistent problems such as unemployment and rising prices,” she stated.
Villar’s campaign continues to gain momentum as she presents her vision for a modern, inclusive, and economically resilient Philippines.
